Celebrating Halloween in Lowell!
There are so many events going on this weekend and next week for Halloween!  Here's a list of some of those events.

Family Fun
Monster Bash and Halloween Stroll, Saturday October 25 from 12-3PM in Downtown Lowell
12:00pm-2:00pm: Trick-or-Treating in downtown Lowell. Don’t forget to bring your treat bag! 12:00-3:00pm at Lowell High School: Haunted house, kids games, Costume Contest (12 mons to 12 yrs) from 1:00-2:00pm. Sponsored in part by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell and the City of Lowell.
 
2nd Annual Scarecrow Festival, October 25, 2:30 PM at Mill City Grows, 230 Middlesex Street
The Arts League of Lowell (ALL) and Mill City Grows present the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Festival. Come out and see locally crafted Scarecrows, check out our farmers market, and trick-or-treaters get free apples!
 
3rd Annual Hallows Eve 5k Fun Run and Walk, October 26, 9:00 AM at the Elks Lodge of Lowell, 40 Old Ferry Road
Ghost, goblins and the like will be on the run again this fall as the A.M.S.I. Foundation hosts its Third Annual Hallows Eve 5k Fun Run and Walk on Sunday, October 26, 2014. 5K walkers will begin at 9:30 AM, 5K runners will begin at 10 AM. The race location is the Elks Lodge of Lowell, 40 Old Ferry Road Lowell, MA 01854. Race registration for the chip-timed run begins at 8:00 AM. A free kids fun run (ages 11 & under) starts promptly at 9:15 AM. Race registration is $25, high school students with IDs (and younger) are always $15.

UN-scary Halloween Celebration, October 28, 10:30 AM at Pollard Memorial Library, 401 Merrimack S
Wear your costume & get into the Halloween spirit! Our annual UN-scary Halloween celebration is full of stories, rhymes and songs. All children and their grownups are welcome. No registration required.
 
Halloween Family Fun Tour, October 28, 4:00 PM at Merrimack Repertory Theatre, 50 E Merrimack St
Go Trick-or-Treating at Merrimack Repertory Theatre! This family friendly event is open to children of all ages and will feature a Trick-or-Treat tour backstage, where kids can meet “spooky” actors and other theatre professionals. Event will include free face painting and photo opportunities. Tickets: $10 per child. Parents and kids ages 2 and under are free. visit www.mrt.org/familyfright for tickets. Wicked Halloween - Above & Beyond, October 30, 7:00 PM at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, 300 Martin Luther King Jr Way
NV Concepts presents Wicked Halloween featuring Above & Beyond on Thursday, October 30th at 7pm. Ranked as high as #4 on the World DJ Rankings Above & Beyond have performed at music festivals all around the world including this past year's Ultra Music Festival. Joining the EDM trio will be Benny Benassi and Audien with other artists to be named later. University Orchestra Halloween Concert, October 30, 7:30 PM at Durgin Hall Concert Hall, 35 Wilder Street
Mark Latham conducts the University Orchestra in a frightening array of Halloween favorites, including Saint Saens’ Danse Macabre, Marchner’s Der Vampyr Overture, and Berlioz’s March to the Scaffold and Witches’ Sabbath from Symphonie Fantastique.  http://www.uml.edu/music 
 
Last Safe Halloween Extravaganza, October 31, 8:00 PM at The Last Safe & Deposit Company, 160 Merrimack Street
8:30 PM: The 100 Second Halloween Film Festival. Friends and film makers are submitting Halloween themed home made movies that are 100 seconds long or less. We will screen the movies and have a jury select a winner. 10 PM: Arlen performs AS Joy Division! 11 PM: Aquanutz. What is Aquanutz? They are a supergroup made up of members of The Shods, Darkbuster and The Andrea Gillis Band. They go all out in their tribute to 80’s Hair Metal! We also will be giving out a prize for BEST COSTUME. A Charity Halloween Party, suggested donation of $10.00 or $15.00 a couple. Costume contest, Cash Prizes Totaling $300.00. Cash Bar. Proceeds benefit children impacted by HIV/AIDS.
 
LFC Tuesdays at The Luna Theater: Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum, October 28, 7:35 PM at The Luna Theater at Mill No. 5, 250 Jackson Street
Join the Lowell Film Collaborative for the final film of their “Poe/Price/Corman” Film Series! Like "House of Usher," "Pit and the Pendulum" was equally successful at the box office and a favorite among Corman admirers, who call it his finest achievement among the Poe adaptations. A special LIVE POE-try reading will precede each film!
 
Halloween Party and Art Show, October 31, 7:00 PM at Zeitgeist Gallery, 167 Market Street
Halloween Party at Zeitgeist Friday, Oct. 31, 7-9 pm. Refreshments, music, wear a costume! Check out our dark, spooky, noir-ish art show, up for only a few days. Pick up a pumpkin at the gallery on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1-7 pm. Carve it and bring it to the party or drop it off to light up and display on the sidewalk. Get creative on Halloween weekend!
 
Zombie Party Massacre Night! October 31, 7:35 PM at The Luna Theater at Mill No. 5, 250 Jackson Street
Join us on Halloween night for a ZOMBIE DOUBLE FEATURE in support of the filmmakers of Zombie Party Massacre! $10 will get you in the door for TWO awesome zombie flicks LIFE AFTER BETH and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD! Backstage Fright Tour, October 30-31 and November 1, 10:00 PM at the Merrimack Repertory Theatre, 50 E Merrimack St
What lies beneath the stage at Merrimack Repertory Theatre? This late-night backstage tour starts like any other tour until something happens to your tour guide, turning this into a chilling, bloodcurdling, nightmare-inducing evening! Performances begin every 5-10 minutes as each group proceeds to the next room. Entire performance lasts approximately 30 minutes. Tickets are $20. Visit www.mrt.org/fright to buy tickets.
Monster Bash & Halloween Stroll on October 25!

Join us in downtown Lowell for the annual Monster Bash and Halloween Stroll! There will be trick-or-treating in downtown Lowell from 12-2PM (download the map here​).  Activities at Lowell High from 12-3PM include: haunted house, kids game, costume contest for ages 12mo-12years, and more. This is a free family event!

Lowell Celebrates Kerouac!

Join the city of Lowell to celebrate the life and work of Jack Kerouac during the Lowell Celebrates Kerouac Festival, going on now thorugh October 13th!​  You can also check out the Kerouac Literary Festival, going on throughout the month of October.

Lowell Open Studios October 4-5

Join the artists of Lowell at Lowell Open Studios on October 4-5 from 11-5 each day.  Over 170 artists across 14 venues are participating in this yearly citywide celebration of art!  Free parking and shuttle bus service will be available.  Click on the image to visit the website for details on participating venues and artists, as well as special events associated with Artweek Boston!

Marketing Grants Available

The City of Lowell has issued guidelines for its marketing grant program.  The Community Marketing Grant Program will provide mini-grants of up to $5,000 for collaborative, grass-roots marketing projects for Lowell based organizations.  Grants will be competitively awarded based on the uniqueness of the applicant’s approach and the likelihood of reaching a broad audience. 

The deadline for submissions is 5pm, October 6th, 2014 and the awardees will be notified by the end of October, 2014  Grant funding must be used by June 30, 2015

Branch Street Fire Victims Relief Fund

Our entire city mourns the tragedy of the Branch Street fire, we hope you will support those impacted by this horrible event.
