Halloween in the Mill City!

Things are starting to get spooky around Lowell. Check out all the great events and activities happening during Halloween week!


Tuesday October 27
UN-Scary Halloween Celebration
10:30AM | Pollard Memorial Library, 401 Merrimack St
Wear your costume and get into the Halloween spirit! Our annual UN-scary Halloween celebration is full of stories, rhymes, and songs. All children and their grownups are welcome, no registration required.


Toast to Autumn: A Wine & Beer Tasting
6-8:30PM | Charles Towers Rehearsal Hall, 132 Warren St

Join us for a casual evening with friends old and new to celebrate the autumn season and support your professional theatre. All proceeds help Merrimack Repertory Theatre continue to dream big. We'll be partnering with Tutto Bene and Navigtation Brewing to provide a range of wines and local craft beers to sample and purchase. Tickets are $50 per person - Purchase online or call 978-654-4678.


Wednesday October 28

Dracula Double Feature
2PM and 7PM showings | Showcase Cinemas Lowell, 32 Reiss Ave
A double-feature event of the classic 1931 vampire film Dracula will be in cinemas nationwide on Wednesday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time. Along with the iconic Bela Lugosi version, horror fans will have the opportunity to see the Spanish language version shot at night with a different cast.


Make & Take: Paint a Pumpkin Party!
6PM | Cafe UTEC, 41 Warren St
Paint, carve, decorate or bedazzle your own pumpkin masterpiece, with guidance from local artists. Want to do something more than a traditional jack-o-lantern this year? Be inspired at this family-friendly pumpkin-decorating workshop! Drop-in as you please between 6 and 8PM, buy a pumpkin (please don't bring your own) to decorate and work alongside local artists to create a pumpkin masterpiece as unique as you are. Various decorating stations will be set up and all materials are included when you purchase a pumpkin. Free Admission! Hot cider and seasonal treats will be available for purchase.

John Carpenter's "Halloween" Screening

After John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN premiered in a theatre in Kansas City, Missouri on October 25th, 1978, the horror film took the country by storm. Over 35 years later, it has earned the title of one of the most successful independent horror films of all time, launched a huge franchise and has been making audiences scream ever since its debut.


Friday October 30

"Tales of Halloween" screening
7:35 and 9:45PM | The Luna Theater, 250 Jackson St
Eleven directors, renowned for their contribution to the horror movie genre, have joined forces to create a series of interconnected stories, each with a unique Halloween theme. Ten short films have been woven together by a shared theme of Halloween night in an American suburb, where ghouls, imps, aliens and axe murderers appear for one night only to terrorize unsuspecting residents.

Want to give your Halloween costume a dry run before the big day? What better place than Lowell Makes, where you can make those last minute tweaks to get all the details just right? Then you'll be happy to learn that Lowell Makes is having our Halloween Party on October 30th, the night before Halloween. So come join us for fun, food, music on All Hallows' Eve Eve. We encourage you to bring guests, and ask for either a pot-luck dish, or a "tool-luck" contribution (any small hand tool in good condition).

Halloween Show with the Four Legged Faithful

The Four Legged Faithful are a band made up of 4 ordinary men who all thrive on playing music together. Their aim is not to play traditional folk or bluegrass music, but instead to create beautiful, heart-felt, and genuine music using traditional folk/bluegrass instruments. They create a sound that is honest and reflects the band’s many musical influences from nearly all genres.


Alligator Wine: Halloween Night at Dudley's

Bring out your dead! The black cat is out of the bag! Alligator Wine will be officially playing Dudley's, in Downtown Lowell, on Halloween night. Make sure to wear a costume, as there will certainly be a costume contest, as well as some other tricks, or treats! We plan on rocking the house, you don't want to miss it!

Art Supports Community

Lowell Folk Festival is July 24-26, 2015!



There’s so much to eat, play and discover at this year’s 29th Annual Lowell Folk Festival! This year’s festival features five stages of traditional music, authentic crafts demonstrations, ethnic foods, art and children’s activities.
The Festival is always the last full weekend in July. Come see the largest free folk festival in the country!
Lowell Celebrates the 4th!


Lowell celebrates the 4th this year on Saturday, July 4th! Join us at LeLacheur Park, 450 Aiken Street - gates will open at 7PM, and the fireworks will be at approximately 9PM.  There will be food and drink available to purchase at the park (no outside food or drink is allowed, sorry!) and there will be plenty to entertain you before the fireworks.

Summer Kickoff is this weekend (June 19-20)!

Please join the City of Lowell during the month of May as we recognize and celebrate our hardworking small business community with four neighborhood-based business resource fairs. These one-stop business resource fairs will include many exhibitors that provide technical, financial, procurement, networking and other business-support services to help your small business grow!
The City of Lowell Small Business Month coincides with National Small Business Week which takes place May 4-8, 2015.
