Although Lowell may be best known for its urban amenities and cultural attractions, the City provides an abundance of recreational opportunities to satisfy everyone from the weekend warriors to the rugged outdoorsmen.
Explore Lowell’s National Historic Park, offering self or guided walking tours of key City landmarks, in addition to outdoor activities. In warmer months, take a canal boat tour to experience Lowell’s historic waterways, or for the more adventurous, try white water rafting or rowing the Merrimack River.
The Riverwalk, easily accessible from Downtown, is the perfect spot for a casual stroll or afternoon jog. If you’re ready to break out your hiking boots, or hop on your bike, the Lowell Dracut Tyngsboro State Forest offers 1,140 acres and miles of trails to explore.

Together, we can make a splash in Lowell.
Eastern Bank and the City of Lowell are teaming up to raise $50,000 to open the swimming pools in Lowell for the summer. For every dollar you donate, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation will match it, until the goal of $50,000 is met. Your donation will give families and children a safe place to go during the hot days of summer, and help create jobs for local lifeguards.
