A Hub of Technology & Innovation

"One of the many reasons for choosing Lowell is that we wanted to be able to draw on the technology-savvy employment base in the Northwest Boston Metro area and Southern New Hampshire. We attribute our recent success as Inc. Magazine's Fastest Growing Company in the Nation to the quality of people we hire."
- Tim Litle, Founder and Chairman Litle & Co. LLC

Lowell’s business community is made up by a wide variety of companies that have selected Lowell for its ample amenities, central location and affordable office space. However, the City has quickly risen as one of Massachusetts’ leading cities specifically for technology, including Life Sciences, Nanotechnology, High-Tech, Renewable Energy and Environmental Engineering.

Awarded the sole Platinum level as a “BioReady” community by the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council and MassEcon, Lowell outpaced many other rated communities including Chelmsford, Marlborough, Somerville and Newton. The presence of a wide variety of office space, including many newly renovated mill buildings plus accessibility to Boston and Southern New Hampshire, set the City apart.  In addition, proximity to UMass Lowell, home to the Massachuesetts Medical Device Development CenterSaab Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center (ETIC), and the Deshpande Foundation's Merrimack Valley Sandbox Initiative, offers another distinct advantage.

Companies like Litle & Co., Motorola, Borrego Solar Systems, Nobis Engineering, Watermark, Qvidian, TRCPlumChoiceDiagnosisONE and Xenith have all discovered firsthand the advantages of doing business in Lowell.
